Case study: Hearing Aid Council

May 2005 to March 2006

The Hearing Aid Council is a Non Departmental Public Body under the DTI that regulates the sale of hearing aids in the private market. The Council was identified by the Hampton Review as a smaller regulator that should be consolidated within the proposed national Consumer and Trading Standards Agency.

Working with members and the Chief Executive, Cassiopeia helped the Hearing Aid Council to develop a clear vision for the future regulation of the private hearing aid market. This included: working with the DTI, other government departments and key stakeholders to develop a vision and strategic objectives; developing and implementing a corporate plan; and, introducing new corporate governance arrangements.

Following this work, Cassiopeia supported the Council to re-design its organisational structural, procure administrative services for three external organisations, improve its administrative processes and procedures and develop a public relations strategy.
